Revelation 11:3-6, “And I will give power unto my two witnesses, and they shall prophesy a thousand two hundred and threescore days, clothed in sackcloth. These are the two olive trees, and the two candlesticks standing before the God of the earth. And if any man will hurt them, fire proceedeth out of their mouth, and devoureth their enemies: and if any man will hurt them, he must in this manner be killed. These have power to shut heaven, that it rain not in the days of their prophecy: and have power over waters to turn them to blood, and to smite the earth with all plagues, as often as they will.”
The identities of Two Witnesses will be Elijah and Moses based on powers given to them by God both in the past and during the Tribulation. Elijah could call fire from heaven and cause no rain for 3 ½ years. 1 Kings 18:37-38, “Hear me, O Lord, hear me, that this people may know that thou art the Lord God, and that thou hast turned their heart back again. Then the fire of the Lord fell, and consumed the burnt sacrifice, and the wood, and the stones, and the dust, and licked up the water that was in the trench.”
2 Kings 1:10, “And Elijah answered and said to the captain of fifty, If I be a man of God, then let fire come down from heaven, and consume thee and thy fifty. And there came down fire from heaven, and consumed him and his fifty.”
Moses called down plague after plague on Egypt that related to their pagan gods/goddesses. Many of these plagues are similar the same as those recorded in the Book of Revelation.
Psalm 105:26, “He sent Moses his servant; and Aaron whom he had chosen. They shewed his signs among them, and wonders in the land of Ham.
Psalm 105:28 “He sent darkness, and made it dark; and they rebelled not against his word.” Amun Re was god of the sun; chief of the gods from whom all Pharaohs descended; creator; source of change of seasons.
Revelation 16:10, “And the fifth angel poured out his vial upon the seat of the beast; and his kingdom was full of darkness; and they gnawed their tongues for pain,”
Psalm 105:29 He turned their waters into blood, and slew their fish. Revelation 11:6 (see above) Hapi was the spirit of the Nile; caused the annual flood, Khnum was a creator god; god of fertility; guardian of the Nile; deity of water and fertility and Osiris the God of resurrection and life; Nile liken to his bloodstream.
Added Later:
Ray Vander Laan's "God Heard Their Cry" was a great help to me in posting the above DQ. So in this reply I would not only like to give him credit but to add more about the plagues. Surely as God gave Moses the ability to counter the pagan gods of Egypt, he certainly will give power to the two witnesses to counter the antichrist and his minions during the time of the tribulation.
Exodus 9:11, "And the magicians could not stand before Moses because of the boils; for the boil was upon the magicians, and upon all the Egyptians."
Revelation 16:2, "And the first went, and poured out his vial upon the earth; and there fell a noisome and grievous sore upon the men which had the mark of the beast, and upon them which worshipped his image." Thoth was the Egyptian pagan god of wisdom and the moon, medicine and good health, learning and the arts.
