How can the Biblical symbolism of “The Great Eagle” be compared today with the American symbol of the eagle? Good question!

As pointed out the Eagle was the symbol of many of Israel's Enemies including the Greeks, Romans, Russia, Germany and England.

The bald eagle is a bird of prey native to North America. Rather that being bald, its head is covered with white feathers. The bald eagle has been the national symbol of the USA since 1782. I recall hearing that Ben Franklin preferred the turkey, however, the eagle won out. The Seal of the President of the USA pictures an American bald eagle holding a ribbon in its beak with the motto of the USA, "E PLURIBUS UNUM," meaning "Out of many, one." The eagle is clutching an olive branch in one claw and arrows in the other.

So will The United States of America become one more country that becomes an enemy of Israel? Chinese general & military strategist (~400 BC)Sun-tzu is credited with the quote, "Keep your friends close, and your enemies closer." When it comes to Israel/ American relationships I'd suggest that the quote should be "Keep your enemies close, and your friends’ closer.” Over the years we have been both a friend and an enemy to Israel, however, it seems today our current administration is not only kicking Israel under the bus, our country is arming Israel’s enemies!

John P. McTernan’s book; “As America Has Done to Israel” records that time and again the USA has pressured Israel to give up the land given to them by God and paid a price. A few examples include "The Perfect Storm" that in 1991 pretty much coincided with the Madrid Peace Process in which the elder President Bush was very clear that Israel was required to surrender parts of her covenant land for peace. The senior Bush’s own home was affected by the storm. The United States pressured Israel to withdraw from Gaza and that withdrawal seems to have coincided with Hurricane Katrina.

Like President Carter, President Bill Clinton is still bloviating about Israel urging them to make peace, usually involving land and/ or great concessions for peace. Excuse me, Mr. President; you’d better check your premises!

Meanwhile back at the WH: “Obama Ramps up His War on America.” June 26, 2013 by Bob Livingston“

“The Barack Obama regime opened a new front in his war on America yesterday when he unveiled his plans to skirt Congress and cut so-called carbon pollution from existing power plants.”

So our leader is blaming global warming on carbon rather than what in my opinion is the real source. God is losing patience with our country, a country that He so blessed in the past. To use a rather unspiritual expression, “God is getting Hot under the collar!”

Is it too late for the USA? David Reagan seems to think so. One of the reasons Mr. Reagan lists in his booklet “A Prophetic Manifesto: America is finished” is that “We have forsaken the nation of Israel, demanding that they surrender their heartland and divide their capital city.”

Added later:

Ezekiel 14:12-14, “The word of the Lord came to me: 13 “Son of man, if a country sins against me by being unfaithful and I stretch out my hand against it to cut off its food supply and send famine upon it and kill its people and their animals, 14 even if these three men—Noah, Daniel[a] and Job—were in it, they could save only themselves by their righteousness, declares the Sovereign Lord.”

Jeremiah 15:1, “Then said the LORD unto me, Though Moses and Samuel stood before me, yet my mind could not be toward this people: cast them out of my sight, and let them go forth.”

Franklin's Letter to His Daughter (excerpt)

"For my own part I wish the Bald Eagle had not been chosen the Representative of our Country. He is a Bird of bad moral Character. He does not get his Living honestly. You may have seen him perched on some dead Tree near the River, where, too lazy to fish for himself, he watches the Labour of the Fishing Hawk; and when that diligent Bird has at length taken a Fish, and is bearing it to his Nest for the Support of his Mate and young Ones, the Bald Eagle pursues him and takes it from him.

"With all this Injustice, he is never in good Case but like those among Men who live by Sharping & Robbing he is generally poor and often very lousy. Besides he is a rank Coward: The little King Bird not bigger than a Sparrow attacks him boldly and drives him out of the District. He is therefore by no means a proper Emblem for the brave and honest Cincinnati of America who have driven all the King birds from our Country...
