What is “Mystery Babylon”, and what will become of it? 526-1 - 5 - 4

Mystery Babylon is the great Harlot of Revelation Chapter 17 that meets with utter destruction as foretold in the Old Testament.

Revelation 17:5, “And upon her forehead was a name written, Mystery, Babylon The Great, The Mother Of Harlots And Abominations Of The Earth.”

Revelation 17:9, “And here is the mind which hath wisdom. The seven heads are seven mountains, on which the woman sitteth.” Seven mountains, Rome and the Vatican, a great possibility!

Revelation 17:18, “And the woman which thou sawest is that great city, which reigneth over the kings of the earth.

Babylon is mentioned 265 times in the KJV of the Bible. Babylon was the capital of the first World Dictator, Nimrod/ Rebel, meaning "a mighty hunter in defiance of the Lord." Fast forward to the End Days, coming, a one world government united with a one world religion.

Was the Harlot, the woman who rides the beast the Roman Catholic Church as foretold by Jesus in His letter written to the church in Thyatira Jezebel of the Old Testament? Revelation 2:20, “Notwithstanding I have a few things against thee, because thou sufferest that woman Jezebel, which calleth herself a prophetess, to teach and to seduce my servants to commit fornication, and to eat things sacrificed unto idols.”

Jezebel, the wife of Ahab procured the vineyard of Naboth for her husband, a type of the future RCC’s Inquisition. Eventually Ahab repented and delayed “evil upon his house” until his son’s rule nevertheless, Jezebel didn’t repent and was “eaten by dogs” as prophesied in I Kings 21:23.

Is the Harlot the future One World Church, RCC, Babylon? Forewarning of what would happen to the Harlot when the dogs/ kings of the earth of Revelation 17:18 turn on her? Revelation 18:3, “For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her delicacies.”

In the past the Harlot has committed fornication with world leaders including Hitler and Mussolini.

Both Hitler and Mussolini eventually were defeated, nevertheless, for now the Harlot still has great power.

Soon we will hear, Revelation 18:4-5, “4 Then I heard another voice from heaven say: “Come out of her, my people, so that you will not share in her sins, so that you will not receive any of her plagues; 5 for her sins are piled up to heaven, and God has remembered her crimes.”

Revelation 18:9-10, “9 And the kings of the earth, who have committed fornication and lived deliciously with her, shall bewail her, and lament for her, when they shall see the smoke of her burning, 10 Standing afar off for the fear of her torment, saying, Alas, alas, that great city Babylon, that mighty city! for in one hour is thy judgment come.”

Babylon the great Harlot, Mystery Babylon, is no more and those who sold themselves to her will face great loss with the destruction of Babylon and face eventual judgment.

Revelation 17:18 refers to the woman as “That great city, which reigneth over the kings of the earth.” Revelation 18:3, “For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her delicacies.” [KJV]

As for the kings of the earth and merchants, Revelation 18:10, “Standing afar off for the fear of her torment, saying, Alas, alas that great city Babylon, that mighty city! for in one hour is thy judgment come.” [KJV]

 “To the nearly I billion Roman Catholics misinformed by their hierarchy; to the 400 million Protestants equally ignorant of the facts; and to the genuine martyrs on both sides, this book is dedicated.” So opens Dave Hunt’s “A Woman Rides the Beast: The Roman Catholic Church and the Last Days.” Dave Hunt identifies the Roman Catholic Church as the Whore (Harlot) of Babylon based on the prophecies in chapters 17 and 18. The book ends with appendix I: "The Lutheran – Catholic Joint Declaration Justification," the joint declaration (JD) was signed on October 31, 1999. October 31, the same day as in 1517 that Martin Luther nailed his 95 Theses to the door of the Wittenberg Castle chapel. A move to a one world religion?

I remember seeing a movie starring Burt Lancaster years ago titled "The Prince." He made a statement that has stuck with me through the decades, “Things must change so that they may remain the same.” This certainly could be said of Babylon. It seems that in the final days Babylon will come full circle.
 
Babylon is mentioned over 300 times in the Bible. It was the capital of the 1st World Dictator, Nimrod/ Rebel, meaning "a mighty hunter in defiance of the Lord." Babylon is expected to be the capital of the Last World Dictator. Proverbs 25:2, “It is the glory of God to conceal a thing: but the honour of kings is to search out a matter.” So while not a king I’ll still search out the matter.

Pride and defiance in the face of God certainly gets people in trouble again and again. However, it just seems to be what fallen man does. And of course God has the last word. Genesis 11:6-9, “And the Lord said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do. Go to, let us go down, and there confound their language, that they may not understand one another's speech. So the Lord scattered them abroad from thence upon the face of all the earth: and they left off to build the city. Therefore is the name of it called Babel; because the Lord did there confound the language of all the earth: and from thence did the Lord scatter them abroad upon the face of all the earth.”

Fast forward to the time of Belshazzar and “The handwriting on the wall” Babylon fell, however, the destruction of Babylon as prophesied in Isaiah 13, 14 and Jeremiah 50, 51 has not occurred. The early and simple gospel of Jesus was lost in the maze of church liturgy. The church of Pergamos represents the marriage of the early church to the pagan world followed by the medieval Church of Thyatira with its primary location in Rome. Revelation 17-18 sure seems to refer to the Roman Catholic Church as Mystery Babylon. In the final days, the Roman Catholic Church will morph into a one world religion (harlot) and will be relocated to Babylon.

As for the ultimate fate of the harlot, Zechariah 5:5-11 speaks to a woman labeled as wickedness being transported in ephah by two women having wings of a stork, an unclean bird. The woman was “To build it an house in the land of Shinar: and it shall be established, and set there upon her own base.” The ephah represents a measurement of volume and a talent of lead represents a weight. To me this is a little reminiscent of Belshazzar; Daniel 5:27, "Thou art weighed in the balances, and art found wanting being weighed and found wanting."
