Using the information from the USGS, I've been maintaining a
database tracking earthquakes for more than a year. The USGS criteria is Earthquakes Magnitude
2.5 or Greater in the United States and Adjacent Areas and Magnitude 4.5 or
Greater in the Rest of the World.
Eastern Turkey had two earthquakes greater than 4.3 the
second half of 2010. Through 10/22/11,
during 2011 there had been seven 4.2 or greater earthquakes in Eastern Turkey. Today, 10/23/11, so far there have been 17
earthquakes with a Magnitude of 4.2 to 7.2.
Sign of the times? To
be continue.
