Jesus held the Jews responsible to know the time of thy visitation in Luke 19:44. Are we, as Christians, required to know the time in which we live 522 - 10-7

Luke 19:41-44 " As he approached Jerusalem and saw the city, he wept over it and said, “If you, even you, had only known on this day what would bring you peace—but now it is hidden from your eyes. The days will come upon you when your enemies will build an embankment against you and encircle you and hem you in on every side. They will dash you to the ground, you and the children within your walls. They will not leave one stone on another, because you did not recognize the time of God’s coming to you.”

When Jesus rode into Jerusalem in fulfillment of Zechariah 9:9, “Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem: behold, thy King cometh unto thee: he is just, and having salvation; lowly, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass.” to the very day prophesied in Daniel 9:25, the Pharisees told him to “rebuke thy disciples.” Jesus replied, “I tell you that, if these should hold their peace, the stones would immediately cry out.”

Jesus most certainly held the Jewish people responsible for knowing the time of their visitation and less than 40 years later the temple was destroyed and the people were dispersed. There have been so many prophecies that were fulfilled by Jesus that is really rather mind-boggling that the Pharisees didn't recognize Jesus for who he was, the son of God. Of course it's easy to be critical of their unbelief when we have so many information tools available to us today. There might have been a different outcome had the Pharisees been able to thoroughly scrutinize Jesus not as a Nazarene, rather as having been born in Bethlehem as prophesied in Micah 5:2, “But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting."

To this day most Jews do not recognize Jesus as their Messiah. This link to “351 Prophecies Fulfilled in Jesus Christ” is a great resource in discussing Jesus with unbelievers.

I would expect that as Christians we are required to know the time in which we live, to be like the Sons of Issachar. As followers of Jesus we are to be a witness to the world and in my opinion one of the most effective ways to witness is to be able to discuss fulfilled prophecies. By quoting Bible verses such as found in Matthew 24 and relating them into current world events is very effective. Also, we can refute the blasphemy of Replacement Theology.
