Matthew 16:18, “And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.”
Daniel 7:21, “I beheld, and the same horn made war with the saints, and prevailed against them;”
In answering this discussion question one should consider the two different groups involved. Jesus was talking to his disciples about the Church. Jesus identifies himself as the rock, the cornerstone of the church. As for the Church, the believers, those of us still alive at the time of the Rapture will be snatched up before the appearance of the antichrist, "The Little Horn."
While we born-again Christians can expect to escape the horrors of the tribulation, already we see discrimination against Christians here in the United States. To get a real flavor of the persecution visited upon Christians in many countries today read the newsletter published by “The Voice of the Martyrs” or visit their website, http://www.persecution.com/.
What of those who are left behind at the time of the rapture? I suspect that any number of them will remember a born-again Christian friend who had warned them about the soon coming of Jesus for his Church. I would expect that many, me included, have left breadcrumbs for family and friends who will be left behind. Several prophetic websites have information for those who are left behind which will no doubt be taken down fairly rapidly after the rapture. However, in the meanwhile people should be able to go to such sources as the Rapture Ready website and read some very helpful information dealing with what happened and why they missed it and what they can do to make sure that they don't fall under the spell of the antichrist. The Rapture Ready website has a section titled “Information For Those Left Behind.”
Those left behind will possibly consist of several groups. Perhaps the largest group will be those who are totally deluded by the antichrist and take his mark thereby assuring their condemnation for eternity. Another group will be the militants and the preppers who survive the tribulation. As an aside, today there is quite a market in building shelters and storing up massive amount of foods against the coming evil that most people seem to intuitively feel is coming. Within this group will be the saved and the unsaved. Those who are saved will go into the millennium. The final group would be called the Tribulation Saints against whom the antichrist will prevail. These are the people that come to faith during the tribulation and refuse to take the mark preferring a quick bite of the blade and then spending an eternity with Jesus.
