God’s love is a supernatural and personal love. It is only
dependent upon God and according to Nancy God’s love is Agape; pure and divine
Love.
To assure our acceptability to a righteous God our awesome
God made the supreme sacrifice of his only begotten son. Eons before God asked
Abraham to make that ultimate sacrifice of his son Isaac. An angel intervened
and a ram was provided as a substitute; prophetic of the Lamb of God being
crucified.
Romans 5:8, “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that,
while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”
John 3:16, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his
only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have
everlasting life.”
Both John 3:16 and Romans 5:8 are a daily reminder of God’s
longsuffering and merciful love for “such a sinner as I.”
According to Nancy there are many reasons why God’s love is
so important in our lives.
Having God’s Love in our lives is the whole meaning and
purpose of our Christian walk and is the only way others will know and see that
we walk the talk as true Christians. Loving with God’s Love proves we are
abiding in God and demonstrates that we are filled with the “fulness of God.”
Nancy also talks to God’s Love as the perfect “bond of union,” between God and/or
others and myself.
We are told by Jesus to love our enemies .Luke 6:27-28, “But
I say unto you which hear, Love your enemies, do good to them which hate you,
Bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you.”
This is a very difficult commandment for me to internalize
in these days of ever increasing evil. I keep reminding myself that the Islamic
terrorists are humans in need of salvation. I support Israel and the Jewish
people and the unconditional covenants they have with God. It is so easy to
love God’s chosen people, however, it is very difficult to love those who
obsess about eradicating Israel. To the terrorists Israel represents the little
Satan and the United States is the great Satan. Perhaps by the time this course
is finished I will have some of God’s love leaking out of me towards those who
would happily cut off my head for my support of Israel.
