How does the message of Joel apply to us? What about our countries? What is our predicament today? BTE 601-1-7

The message of Joel applies to the United States in two major ways; we do not repent of our sinful ways and for our treatment of Israel.

Jonathan Cahn wrote a best seller titled “The Harbinger: The ancient mystery that holds the secret of America's future”. The book compares the reaction of Israel to the first invasion of the land by the Assyrians and that of the United States after 911. Neither Israel or the United States repented their sins, rather, they would rebuild even better.
“The bricks are fallen down, but we will build with hewn stones: the sycamores are cut down, but we will change them into cedars.” Isaiah 9:10.

The day after 9/11 Senate Majority Leader, Tom Daschle in a statement concerning a 'Joint Resolution of Condemnation for the September 11, 2001 stated the following: “But there is a passage in the Bible from Isaiah that I think speaks to all of us at times such as this: 'The bricks have fallen down, but we will rebuild with dressed stone; the fig trees have been felled, but we will replace them with cedars.'”

New York City Mayor, Rudolph Giuliani and New York State Governor, George E. Pataki said much the same; Major Giuliani after the attack and Governor Pataki when dedicating the building of the "Freedom Tower" on the 4th of July 2004.

When he was the Democratic Candidate for Vice President John Edwards spoke the same verse while at a prayer breakfast. Again, no repentance and Senator Edwards careen was later destroyed.

As for our treatment of Israel, it seems the nations of the world are really piling on today including the United States. Organizations such as The Ecumenical Accompaniment Programme in Palestine and Israel (EAPPI) spread misinformation about the so-called occupancy of the land given to Israel by God. Then there is Jimmy Carter, the anti-Semitic former president of the United States and his ilk.

Shortly before our involvement in WWII, the largest Nazi rallies outside of Germany took place at Camp Siegfried in Yaphank, New York. Camp Siegfried was the center of the Nazi movement in the United States. The horrific 1938 New England hurricane with its 25 to 30 foot wall of water pounded the area a few weeks after the Nazi held their rallies. John P. McTernan’s book “ As America Has Done to Israel” details this and many more events that happened shortly after the United States turned on the Jews.

We pushed Israel to give up the Gaza Strip and shortly thereafter Katrina slammed into the US. Another judgment we fail to heed.

Rather than repenting our sins, we in the United States seem to compound them daily. Abortion is considered to be a woman’s right and homosexuality is being hyped as normal. Our economy is very shaky and unemployment remains high. There is much violence on our streets and in our homes. So it seems as with Israel of Joel’s day, we are under judgment by God.
